Today we learnt how to use a compass to draw concentric circles and I really enjoyed it. I learnt so much. I felt enjoyment when I made perfect circles and getting to know how to use a compass. My favorite part was using the compass. Next I would like to learn how to make a square. Today’s lesson was fun. I liked using a compass to make concentric circles.
We are a class of Year 6 and 7 students at Glen Innes School in Auckland "The city of Sails" New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Manor Ramkolowan

Heather-Reflecting on Round Robin Writing
Today the writing lesson was a bit different. We played Round Robin Writing. I thought it was a great idea. Also since both my partners were contributing and sharing their ideas. I enjoyed the lesson yet something that I would like to change is the time limits. Three minutes for planning is fine but five minutes for writing, I would like it to be moved up to about seven minutes. I think we should try this out again because it was so much fun.

Alicia- Simple Machines
Today Glen Innes School held a Simple Machine Expo. Room 8’s topic was to use the Wheel and Axle and the Pulley to create a Simple Toy. Just after Lunchtime we all headed to the hall to observe the toys created. In my opinion, my favourite one was Room 7’s Ferris Wheel. It was very easy to identify the fact that they used the Wheel and Axle and it moved like a dream. I really enjoyed the Expo and I wonder if they will have another one but on a different topic.

Jolie- Serving Dinner at Sports Camp
Kia Orana,
Last week students from Glen Innes School went to sports camp at Totara Springs in Matamata. While we were there I with 5 of my friends, got the chance to serve dinner to six schools. It was really cool because I like how some of the kids used their manners. As you can see in the photo I was serving the jelly, on my right was Charm serving the ice-cream and on my left was Tuakana serving the vegies and gravy. I liked serving because when everyone finished their food we got to have all of the left overs, that means we got to have whatever was left. I got a lot of food and I loved it.

Jolie - Tongan Language Week
This week is Tongan language week this means people all over New Zealand will be learning new things about the Tongan culture, I learnt how to say 10 in Tongan this is how you spell it Hongofulu. At our school we are celebrating by decorating the foyer with Tongan decorations. Sometimes at our school we don't like being with other cultures. To fix this I would like to get everyone who are in in rooms 7,8 and let them get to know each other so that they just don't judge kids by their culture.

Harrison - Science Expo
Today we had the school wide science expo. Each class had to present their topic learning in a fun and creative way. Our class displayed it by creating toys using simple machines, we had the option of using either pulleys or wheel and axles. I made mine using pulleys. I really enjoyed looking and learning about the different simple machines.
