La'Shae- Kapahaka Festival

I participated in the first ever Ruapotaka cultural Maori festival on the 24th of Nov. We participated in the feastival because we were proud of our culture and wanted to show it. Our group name was Wairereo. We sang songs and also did a haka. I was absolutely proud to be a Maori that day. I was nervous at first to go on stage but I got around to it. All the lunchtime practices paid off.

Jaiden-Hip Hop Dance lesson

Today this morning, we went to our hip hop dance lesson 2 practice. I had a joyful time dancing and running around the hall.

First, when we started dancing, we had to warm up our body so that we wouldn't faint or fall down. We first started by moving around and shaking our legs and arms, then we turned our neck left and right. The hip hop  teacher's name was Izzy, she also showed us some new moves.

The fun bit of the hip hop practice was when we ran around the hall, also we had to keep switching leaders so that we couldn't get tired and stop. We all learned a new game that was fun, it was called rock paper scissors but in a dancing way. We had to walk up to the team and then we had to choose rock, paper or scissors pose to defeat the other team.

When we were about to head to class, she taught us hand moves like doing squares and other amazing patterns that the other classes already learned. As she taught us through to her moves, I could see many people struggling like me.

When we left the hall I had a very great time.

Meliana- Wellington Sculptor

Stavros is an artist that makes sculptures out of rocks
and sticks and these are found in south coast of
Wellington. What's so special about his sculptures is
that he doesn’t use glue, wires or nails. How is it
easy for him to balance rocks on top of each other is
that he depends on the gravity and looks for the racks
and bumps so that it is easier to balance. People have
different opinions about his sculptures because some
say that it is amazing how it doesn’t fall down and other
people would say that he does use glue to help it stay
in balance.

Eden - Birthday Boy : Settiing

It was a dazzling morning where the sun was glowing bright in the sky in 1951 in Korea. The village was deserted and the ground was dusty just like an old cupboard that hasn't been cleaned in years, the houses were filled with bits and pieces of airplane parts and mammoth tank parts.

Javarn- Matching fractions with decimals and Percentages

I was playing a game of matching fractions with decimals and percentages.  I had to match 2.0 and a picture that showed 200 squares. This game was easy for me because I learnt how to do fractions, decimals and percentages. Next , I would like to learn challenging math games that will help me to use when I go to a higher level.

Javarn- Ninja Chicks

This week we revisited writing a summary and taking notes. My teacher read this story to us and we had to write a summary using the ‘W’ words.

Mama got taken away from a fox, so Hansel and Gretel went to the dojo to become a ninja so they can save her. They knew how to attack, they knew how to protect themselves. Once they got back home, it was filthy it was like a pig been living in their house. They thought their papa took a birdnap. Then they saw footprints so they followed it. While they followed the footprints they left crumbs behind so they will know there way back. The light faded away and Hansel and Gretel got lost. Eventually, they found a light. But they saw his papa trapped inside a cage. So Hansel escaped with papa and mama while Hansel escaped Gretel fought the fox and trapped him in the cage.

Reflection:
I understand the ‘ walht’ but find it difficult to write the summary in my own words.

Eden-It's a Girl

Welcome to our country. We thank you for being NZ prime minister and we give you congratulations on your new baby girl. I think that you should name your baby Mystery Ardern Gayford because at first, you didn't know if it was a girl or a boy. Also, you should send your baby when she is older to Glen Innes School because it's an excellent school and she can learn a bunch of things.

Eden - Baking Mince Pies

Today my class and I baked mince pies. It was so easy to bake. When Ms Tulumi brought it out of the oven it smelt so nice I couldn't wait to have a bite because it looked so delicious. We had to wait until it was cooled down because it was still hot. When I had a bite of the mince pie I could feel the mince melting in my mouth which made it tasted nice. I will be able to bake it at home and thank you Ms Tulumi and Mr Steve.

Laina- Creating Simple circuits

Today I learnt something interesting.  We had to do a simple circuit. First, I drew a diagram. Then we made the circuit by following my diagram. The circuit will only work with 2 batteries, not one. I also learnt that if the battery carries more power then the bulb will be brighter. If it carries less power then it will be darker. This simple circuit was great and amazing to do.
