Huntah - Arrival of Corn In New Zealand

14576414291215.pngAccording to Yen James Cook and European explorers brought maize to New Zealand. Maoris grew kumara, potatoes and squash. Europeans gave corn to Maori.


Did you know corn was first grown in New Zealand by 1772. Captain cook came at about 1689.The weather is really suitable to have corn in New Zealand. Spanish explorers explored America. Christopher Columbus went to America and took the corn it to Europe.
That is when James Cook brought corn to New Zealand.


Sometimes the maoris can trade, barter and exchanged food with the Europeans. Corn can be used for cereal, lunch products, mixed veggies and breakfast cereals.
