Harrison - Science Expo

Today we had the school wide science expo. Each class had to present their topic learning in a fun and creative way. Our class displayed it by creating toys using simple machines, we had the option of using either pulleys or wheel and axles. I made mine using pulleys. I really enjoyed looking and learning about the different simple machines.

Harrison - What goes up ..must come down

We had to make a simple machine to show our learning about our topic study. I decided to make one using pulleys which is a wheel with a grooved rim around which a cord passes, which acts to change the direction of a force applied to the cord and is used to raise heavy weights. Mine is called "What goes up... must come down". It took a while to make but was deffinetly worth it.

Harrison- Puzzle: Integers

WALHT: Get familiar with words associated with integers.

Screenshot 2017-08-11 at 09.29.06.png

This puzzle helped to expand my vocabulary on integers. Some of the new weird words that I learnt were: absolute, inequality and operation. I really enjoyed doing this activity because it challenged me to think about word that could relate to the topic. I believe that this was a good use of my time as it helped to broaden my vocabulary.

Harrison- Winter Blogging

Image result for winter learning journey

Over the winter holiday period, and Term 2 break, I traveled all around New Zealand from the comfort of my den...

I went with all of my fellow Maniakalani bloggers and visited several different places in our beautiful country presently covered in a dusting from the Long White cloud know as New Zealand that I hadn't been to before...and probably wouldn't of known about if I hadn't been on this virtual learning journey.

I explored the awesome city of sails - Auckland.  I tried some  Maori cuisine. I got to see an amazing All Blacks haka live at Eden Park. I got to celebrate the Maori new year known as Matariki.  I rode a bike along the Otago Central Rail Trail and I got to visit Farewell Spit which is really now just a whale graveyard.

I even got to prove that the moa still exists!

I have enjoyed my journey, but perhaps this sums it up better that I can...

Harrison- Physical and Chemical Changes

On Thursday the 25th of May a select group of students attended the science roadshow. The first thing that we attended was the physical and chemical show. In this they showed us the difference between physical and chemical changes. A chemical change is when you change something that makes something new usually with no chance to be reversed and a physical change is when you change something and it still stays the same but can also be reversed.

Harrison_ Brochure: Keep Omaru Creek Clean

The focus of my brochure is Keep It Clean. I think that the public deserve a clean creek because we work so hard to prevent it from getting polluted so if you put in the hard work then it will pay off.
