Proving A fire is a chemical change

Chemical change: Fire
Ask a question - When will I notice a chemical change?
Construct a hypothesis( make a guess) - When the match/paper is lit.
Conduct the experiment - //Making a fire//
IMG_5034.JPG IMG_5038.JPG
Record your observations and data colour change -

  1. Colour change
  2. Temperature change
  3. Release of gas
  4. It became irreversible
  5. A new substance was formed
Analyse information -
Once the newspaper was on fire it turned into a new substance, ash. The temperature change caused the newspaper to break, turn black, smell and smoke up. The smoke is also a release of gas. As for colour change it turned black.

Heather-Reflecting on Round Robin Writing

BeFunky Collagek.jpg

Today the writing lesson was a bit different. We played Round Robin Writing. I thought it was a great idea. Also since both my partners were contributing and sharing their ideas. I enjoyed the lesson yet something that I would like to change is the time limits. Three minutes for planning is fine but five minutes for writing, I would like it to be moved up to about seven minutes. I think we should try this out again because it was so much fun.

Heather- Balloon Volleyball

BeFunky Collagek.jpg

While we were playing volleyball outside it started to rain. Our teacher already had a plan in case it would rain. Since we were inside now we were unable to play with the ball so we used balloons to play volleyball. Another twist to the game was that we had to stay on our bottoms and we could only shuffle along the floor to get the balloon. I enjoyed playing this game and it was a great way to end the Friday.

Heather- Measurement of Angles.

This week we have been learning about angles. Our teacher taped one desk in a group and we had to measure  the angle  with a protractor.Thereafter, we had to name it according to its measurement. Most of the angles on my desk were acute angles but had only a few obtuse. I enjoyed doing this task and was doing really well at it.

Heather- Sophisticated Picture Books

Image result for The steadfast tin soldier

If I had to recommend this book to anyone it would be to my older sister. She is the only sibling I have that enjoys reading as much as I do. I think that she would enjoy this book because it’s interesting and mysterious, things that my sister likes. We also watch a lot of Korean drama which most of the time is about a boy fighting for the one he loves. Which is like the Tin soldier in this story. Even though the goblin threw the Tin soldier out the window he still stood steadfast until he returned back to the lady he loved, the paper dancer.

Heather- What's my "WHY"

These are my goals, in the background on the newspaper template is my 'WHY'. I really had fun making this, I was very happy because I had the chance to be creative and use my imagination to create this. I am proud of my creation and am happy that it turned out how it is. Heather- Duffy Hero: Kanoa Lloyd

20160906_121111.jpg
Kanoa lloyd

While Room8 were helping their teacher with her assignment we had a sudden visit from a well known TV presenter. She came into our school hall to give out some duffy books to some chosen students. I was one of those students but could not attend the duffy assembly because I had to stay with the class to finish off our reading. KNOCK, KNOCK! Kanoa lloyd walked in our class with a big smile on her face. Afterwards my name was called and she handed me my book. We took a photo together and I couldn't even stand properly. Overall I’d just like to say thank you to Kanoa for taking the time to come to our class.

Heather- Nate lives on

Walht:write an interesting and enjoyable narrative.

Honk! It was only 7:45 am and there was traffic everywhere on the street. Nate was waiting anxiously in the taxi to get to Festern Street.  Fixing his jacket cuffs and using his hands to brush back his thick wavy locks Nate sat with his eyes glued to his phone. The rain started to pour, outside was a dull street with many stressful drivers having trouble getting to where they need to go.

Nate's heart rate rising, time ticking. Arriving at a big building. Nate stopped while two men raced out in bright red suits to take his soggy  jumper.  A big chandelier was right in the middle of the ceiling. Nate walking steadily into room 251 when all of a sudden Cheryl a fashion designer sprints into action giving nate a fancy brown jacket, and a pair of plain jeans. Stan the producer was doing an add for cyber smart when Nate would be a huge man leaving footprints everywhere without knowing.

One room had a spectacular view with big cameras everywhere. The set had miniature buildings with roads, payphones, everything. Stan made his way into the room with high confidence that nothing could go wrong. Suddenly Cheryl misplaces one of her steps and stood right on a building that breaks and crumbles all over the floor.   Everyone gasped, “That was the main building!” yelled Stan “It was where the camera stayed to get the right angle!”

Nate realises that he had bought a doll house for his daughter. Stan placed the doll house in the area where the building had stayed. After their final shoot they sent the add to the International Cybersmart Company. Next a phone rings and it's for Nate, a movie company wanted to have him in one of their new blockbuster movies.

Later they had a big after party for their success and a huge feast. Everyone had big smiles and Nate couldn’t wait to be in his first ever movie. Before the crew had headed home they took a photo to capture that memory.

Heather- Review : I am Malala

I think that Malala is a strong girl to face the Taliban and stand up for girls rights for education. This term we have been reading the book [ I am Malala ]. When Malala was shot she had no anger for the men who shot her and I think that is a very smart decision. I know that if someone shot me I would be furious but Malala is not stubborn like me. I couldn’t even imagine being in Malala’s shoes, getting an award, standing up to the Taliban and having another life to tell everyone about what's happening in Pakistan. She has inspired me a lot and I hope that one day men in Pakistan will know that girls not WANT but NEED to be educated. As what Malala would say:
