Yesterday 9 of us went to St Kentigern college to meet 4 of the Silver Ferns. It was so exciting because I never met them before. The skills that we learnt were shooting, passing the ball straight and hard to their chest. Catherine said that power comes from your legs. She is my most favourite out of all of them. The skill that I mostly enjoyed was shooting. We played a game called golden child, even though I’m not a shooter I still enjoyed it. Maria said that she started playing netball when she was in a certain age then a few years later she became a Silver Fern. She is a Silver Ferns for 11 years now.
We are a class of Year 6 and 7 students at Glen Innes School in Auckland "The city of Sails" New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Manor Ramkolowan

Ben- Sports Camp
Last week we went to Tortara Springs for sports camp. Its was lots of fun through out the whole week. The best part of this camp was coming first in the volleyball and also I was excited winning the Darts with Lana but beside sports it was the big hydroslide, it was loads of fun. I hope it continues next year. It was truly a wonderful experience.

Lauren- Algebra at Open Day at Tamaki College
Terminology
Expressions - Mathematical term for no equal sign
Variable - Mathematical term for letters
Coefficient - Mathematical term for number before the letter
Constant - Mathematical term for the number all by itself
When variables are the same, we call them like terms
When adding like terms keep the variable the same.
2a+5a= 7a
4c+5c= 9c
7p-4p= 3p
ab+2ab= 3ab
“Maths eyes”
If there is no number next to the letter the it always means one
2a+4c+5c+5a=
7a+9c
4b+3g+2b+6g= 15bg :(
Not allowed.
If the letters are not the same then keep them separate.
Algedra must be in alphabetical order.
3f+2g+4f+7g=
7f+9g
2a+3a2+4a=
Correct: 3a2 + 6a
If there is a exponent then it stays separate.
Today at Tamaki College we learnt this in maths class B12. I really enjoyed today and would like to come to this school.
I found out to get the little two then highlight it and push control dot. I recently learnt how to do it. If you want to do any challenges then go to freerice.com It donates rice to kids who haven't eaten for days. There's always something to learnt. That's what Miss Dunn said.

Liam- How has sport made me a better person?
WALT: write an explanation.
How has sport made me a better person?
I have always enjoyed watching and playing sport but I believe it has also made me a better person. It has encouraged me to get fit and it has taught me about many important qualities and values.
Respect
Playing sport has taught me about respect. I’ve learnt to play fairly and respect the rules in the game. I need to be disciplined and not show anger and bad behaviour on the field. It’s important to show respect to my team mates. I need to learn how to be polite to my opponents and their team. If they win I should congratulate them.
Excellence
Sports has made me value excellence. I have to train physically and mentally and take care of my body. I need to gain confidence with my skills and develop a positive attitude. The team must co operate, plan their moves and work together so they could win the game. I need to do my best. I have also learnt to admire excellence in other people.
Friendship
Sport has helped me learn more about friendship. I have learnt that my friends have good qualities such as honesty, trust and helpfulness. If we hadn’t played together I might not have seen these qualities. Having fun with my friends and being part of a team is a great experience. I have also made new friends when we joined a team together. If we hadn’t been in a team together we might not have known each other. Friendship doesn’t just last on the field it carries on afterwards in our lives.
I really believe that sport has made me a better person. I have learnt to respect other people and myself and I have learnt to admire excellence, I have created bonds with my old friends and made new ones. I value friendship most.

Heather- Duffy Hero: Kanoa Lloyd
Kanoa lloyd
While Room8 were helping their teacher with her assignment we had a sudden visit from a well known TV presenter. She came into our school hall to give out some duffy books to some chosen students. I was one of those students but could not attend the duffy assembly because I had to stay with the class to finish off our reading. KNOCK, KNOCK! Kanoa lloyd walked in our class with a big smile on her face. Afterwards my name was called and she handed me my book. We took a photo together and I couldn't even stand properly. Overall I’d just like to say thank you to Kanoa for taking the time to come to our class.

Petuana- Michael Phelps : highs and lows
On Thursday for our reading activity, I had to draw a character timeline on Michael Phelps to show his highs and lows. I had a lot of fun doing this and I think that this is way better than just drawing a normal timeline. Hopefully we get to do another character timeline, but on someone else.
