Yesterday I did my basic facts test for term 2 and today I got my results back from my teacher for stage 7. My score was 674. I got my square roots, square numbers, division, hcf and ⇔ symbols correct. I need to improve on my lcm, decimals fractions percentages and prime numbers. For me to improve, I need to study more on them and practise them on the internet or at home with my sisters for about 20-30 minutes a day. I hope that I get 100% on my next Basic Facts Assessment.
We are a class of Year 6 and 7 students at Glen Innes School in Auckland "The city of Sails" New Zealand. Our teacher is Mrs Manor Ramkolowan

My reflections for term 1
This week we had to do three tests. We had tests on number and measurement, geometry and statistics and also reading.
On Tuesday I had a reading test. I got a 3B on my reading which was awesome because I’m improving. I know the different language used in poetry and figurative speech and make use of previous knowledge. Next term I will have to work on finding and retrieving information. I will work on my gaps by doing my homework and reading more books to help me understand why the author wrote the story.
After the reading test we did the number and measurement test. In this test I got a 4B which means I can go to the green group for maths. I did really well with using equations to represent practical situations and continue the order of the pattern and write the rule. I have to work to devise a strategy to solve a whole number problem and to work on making sensible statements about a statistical investigations. I will try and do homework to get better.
Today we did a test in geometry and statistics. I got a 3B and I was so proud of myself because I thought that I forgot how to do geometry and statistics but when it came to the test I remembered everything. I did really well on describing the features of 2D and 3D objects using the language of geometry and designing and making pattern using translation, reflection and rotation. In geometry and statistics I have to work on grid references. I will improve by trying my best with the homework and getting help from others.
For term two my goal is to get above national standards and try to get 4A.

My Reflections for term 1
I need to get to the next level next term. I want to be a star learner and not fail anymore. For the last week of term 1, our class did 3 tests, to see where we actually are.
For my reading, I think I did great, but I am just below the national standards. Our test was based on comprehension for reading. In reading, my level is 3P. I did well by knowing the authors purpose, I can read quickly and scan fast for the information, and I can understand what the words mean. I need help with placing the punctuations in the right place. I also need help on knowing what the new words mean. I will improve by, doing my homework when we come back to school. I want to be good at reading.
For maths we did numbers and measurement. I scored 2A, which is disappointing. I've got to try hard next term, even better than this term. I did great at factorizing and explaining algebra questions. I also did great in answering perimeter and area questions. I need help with making up a story to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. I didn’t do great on solving whole numbers and decimal problems. I will ask the teacher, if I don’t understand.
In geometry and statistics, I think I did well. Overall I got 3P, and that’s alright. I did very good at making statements about data shown in a statistics display. I am also good at describing 2D and 3D objects using geometry language. I don’t know how to make sensible statements about a statistical investigation. I also need help with drawing and explaining simple scale maps. I can improve by paying more attention to the teacher.
My goal for next term is to focus on my work, and not focusing on my friends. My other goal is to reach the national standards, and be very intelligent. I want to be ready for college.
